Japanese developer JERA has begun a public review of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the Yuza offshore wind farm off Yamagata Prefecture.
The company, which is working on the project in a consortium, said the document describes an overview of the scheme, the conditions in areas where the project will be carried out as well as other details.
The material is based on the maximum anticipated environmental impact, said JERA.
“JERA will continue to move the project forward under the guidance of related authorities, giving due consideration to the opinions of other stakeholders,” it said.
“Because the implementation of numerous Environmental Impact Assessment procedures off Yuza Town may place a heavy burden on local governments, residents, and other related parties, Yamagata Prefecture asked companies planning projects in the area to consolidate their Environmental Impact Assessment documents as much as possible,” added the company.
“JERA, therefore, together with the other companies, formed a consortium for the joint implementation of Document procedures under the Environmental Impact Assessment Law.”
