The Danish government and the country’s various political parties have reached a political agreement to maintain and develop the framework for test turbines and 0-series turbines in Denmark.
Wind Denmark has welcomed the agreement, which is an important step forward towards a new national test centre.
A new national test centre for large wind turbines has moved an important step forward with a broad political agreement.
Wind Denmark chief executive Jan Hylleberg said: “It is incredibly important that we in Denmark have the opportunity to test the wind turbines that we are world champions in developing.
“It is crucial that the first models, the prototypes, can be tested near the development departments in Denmark, and the agreement circle should be highly commended for actively ensuring this.
“Testing is an indispensable part of a competitive and leading wind turbine industry, which is why I am very pleased that a broad majority in the Folketing supports the vision of securing Denmark’s position as a world leader in development and testing.”
Today, the two existing national test centres for wind turbines are 10 and 20 years old respectively, and the centres in Osterild and Hovsore are not sufficiently up-to-date.
The agreement, which concerns Hovsore, will make improvements that allow larger turbines to be tested.
