Eneco has contracted Ballast Nedam to provide specialised foundations and construction works on the Maasvlakte 2 wind farm in the Netherlands.
Ballast Nedam will install 22 turbine foundations, which will host Vestas turbines, and carry out other works including cable installation and connection.
Construction is scheduled to start in early 2022 and the wind farm is expected to be commissioned at the end of the same year.
Ballast Nedam will install turbine foundations on both the hard and soft seawalls of the Rotterdam port area.
Rijkswaterstaat will purchase Maasvlakte 2’s output for 25 years.
Maasvlakte 2 will be Eneco’s largest onshore wind farm when operational.
Ballast Nedam is deploying its nearshore monopile solution for the Maasvlakte 2 project.
The wind turbines on the hard sea wall will have concrete foundations and monopiles on the soft seawall.
Windpark Maasvlakte 2 was developed by Eneco in close collaboration with the Municipality of Rotterdam, the Province of South Holland, the Port of Rotterdam Authority, the Central Government Real Estate Agency and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate.
