PGE, PGE Baltica and the City of Ustka signed a letter of intent regarding the possibility of creating service facilities for planned offshore wind farms at Ustka port.
The sea port in Ustka is one of the potential locations of the base for planned investments in offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea.
Advantages include the location of the port in relation to the planned wind farms, its size, navigation conditions, availability of investment areas, as well as the positive attitude of the city authorities and the Port Authority towards the planned project.
“Situating servicing facilities in Ustka, due to the close proximity to the planned offshore farms, may be an important factor in optimising operations and maintenance costs,” said Wojciech Dabrowski, president of the management board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
PGE together with Orsted is implementing the construction of the largest wind farm in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea, the 2.5GW Baltica Offshore Wind Farm.
As part of the joint project, PGE is responsible for the construction and operation of the service port for the wind farms.
The port of Ustka, next to the port of Leba, is one of those indicated in the National Reconstruction Plan, where it was emphasised that the offshore wind energy sector is an opportunity for economic development, including the construction and development of the so-called local content.
