Enel Green Power has signed a pan-European virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Johnson & Johnson for the output from 104MW of renewable energy capacity located in Spain.
The 10-year VPPA is for the supply of 270 gigawatt hours a year, from wind and solar plants, and will begin in January 2023.
The energy supply covered by the VPPA will be generated by three renewable plants that are under construction, with 85% of the energy coming from the Campillo 2 and 3 wind farms, which are part of a cluster located in the Spanish province of Cuenca.
Their construction will begin in the last quarter of 2021.
The remaining 15% will be supplied from the 47MW Veracruz solar photovoltaic plant, located in Badajoz.
The contract will enable Johnson & Johnson to reach the the equivalent of 100% electricity from renewable sources in Europe by 2023.
“We are very proud to sign this agreement with Johnson & Johnson and to become their ‘Green Enabler’.
“The VPPA is a vital tool in Johnson & Johnson’s progress towards the equivalent of 100% electricity from renewable sources in Europe by 2023,” said Enel Green Power CEO Salvatore Bernabei.
