Suzlon shares spike as ‘Brookfield eyes stake'

Nordic Wind Technology has signed an agreement to retrofit 89 Suzlon S-88 turbines in Spain.

The turbine software from Nordic Wind Technology will be installed during 2021 and will provide a completely new control environment for the S-88 turbines connection to the Siemens Gamesa SCADA solution.

This will allow Siemens Gamesa full monitoring of the turbine data in order to reduce maintenance cost, optimize operations and increase profitability.

The turbine software from Nordic Wind Technology ensures that Siemens Gamesa’s service technicians can access the wind turbine controller in order to perform the scheduled service and maintenance.

As the wind industry progresses with a rapid pace, it is critical that older turbines are equipped to meet today’s control and performance standards.

Retrofitting older turbines with new and field-proven control technology can effectively increase the turbine’s annual energy production, heighten the availability and provide modern remote access.

In combination with renewed access to spare parts, the turbine’s lifetime can be extended with better profitability.

Nordic Wind Technology Steffen Larsson said: “With our software systems we are able to retrofit turbines based on Bachmann controllers.

“We deliver a retrofit upgrade to current industry standard with a modern control and surveillance availability with full access to all data, enabling remote access, improved surveillance and servicing of the turbines.”

With a mission to deliver independent OEM controller software and make wind power more efficient and competitive, Nordic Wind Technology is determined to develop innovative retrofit solutions for the aftermarket.

Having an already well proven Suzlon S-88 controller software retrofit solution, there was a good match between Siemen Gamesa’s needs and Nordic Wind Technology’s solution, the company said.

Nordic Wind Technology chief executive Jorgen Kjaersgaard said: “Working together with SGRE on this project has been a great pleasure for us.

“As we continuously strive to be innovative and deliver a superior service, we look forward to growing this business.”
