Peterhead Port Authority has signed a letter of interest with developers Falck Renewables and BlueFloat Energy to support proposed floating offshore wind farms in the North Sea.
The LoI commits the Port to explore opportunities for developing and using its facilities to assist with construction and maintenance.
Peterhead Port Authority said it already provides a dedicated berth for the Hywind Scotland project, the world’s first commercial wind farm using floating turbines.
It added that Falck and BlueFloat are aiming to secure offshore wind rights in this year’s ScotWind lease round.
Falck business development manager Rory Hutcheson said: “We are very pleased to be exploring options for our operation and management requirements with Peterhead Port Authority and look forward to developing our plans if we are successful in the upcoming ScotWind leasing round.”
Peterhead Port Authority chief executive Simon Brebner said: “We’re delighted to be able offer our support to Falck and BlueFloat and look forward to continuing continuing discussions shortly.”
