Spanish company Acciona is supplying 100% renewable electricity to compatriot biofuels manufacturer Vertex Bioenergy.
The one-year deal will deliver 140,000 megawatt-hours of electricity to Vertex’s facilities and operations in Spain, including the bioethanol manufacturing plants in Salamanca, La Coruna and Murcia.

It has been certified by Spain’s National Markets and Competition Commission and will allow Vertex to reduce its CO2 emissions by 17,000 tonnes.
Vertex said the use of clean energy will be reflected in the final bioethanol labelling showing the savings in greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to the decarbonisation of transport.
