Germany’s coalition government partners have agreed to boost the capacity available next year for solar power to 6GW from just under 2GW and onshore wind to 4GW from just below 3GW.
Federal Energy Minister Peter Altmaier said the country was also making it easier to repower projects and ensuring that the EEG surcharge continues to fall.

In 2023 and 204, the surcharge would be a maximum of €0.05 a kilowatt-hour, he said.
“The topic of climate protection is picking up speed and I am confident that we will be able to initiate further building blocks from my climate initiative during this legislative period,” Altmaier said.
