Swedish renewables developer OX2 is to acquire the rights to the up to 170MW Halsingeskogen wind farm in Sweden from Stora Enso for an undisclosed price.
The 37-turbine Halsingeskogen is located in the municipality of Ovanaker in Gavleborg County.
Under the terms fo the deal, OX2 will own 100% of the project and Stora Enso will remain the landowner.
The estimated annual electricity production amounts to approximately 380 gigawatt-hours, which corresponds to the average consumption of 72,000 households a year.
OX2 country manager Sweden Hillevi Priscar said: “Wind power needs to be quadrupled if Sweden is to reach the national goal of 100% renewable electricity production by 2040, according to the Swedish Energy Agency’s and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s wind strategy.
“The conditions for a wind farm in Ovanaker are good. When we establish wind parks, we always strive for a positive development of the nearby area.
“We also work with programs for increased biodiversity in areas where we construct wind turbines.”
