GE signs 1GW Spanish framework deal

Spanish power firm Capital Energy has signed its first framework agreement for the supply of turbines with GE Renewable Energy.

The agreement with GE includes the sale of turbines for up to 1000MW of power to equip its wind farms in the next three years up to 2023.

The framework also covers both Capital Energy and GE Renewable Energy’s commitment to the economic and social development of all the areas where they carry out their projects.

GE plans to produce a large part of the wind turbine components in factories it works with in Spain.

The blades will be manufactured at two plants belonging to LM Wind Power, as well as other turbine parts, which will be made within GE’s Spanish supply chain.

GE Renewable Energy president and chief executive Jérôme Pécresse said  “We are very proud of the trust that Capital Energy has placed in GE with this important collaboration agreement.

“In the coming months we will work to turn this collaboration into firm orders.

“The construction of new projects will help us to reinforce our industrial commitment with Spain and with the energy transition of this country.”

Capital Energy business chief executive Juan José Sánchez added: “It is a satisfaction for us to be able to seal such a relevant agreement with one of the most important suppliers of wind turbines in the world.

“This agreement with GE Renewable Energy, which I am sure is only the first of many more to come, represents a new milestone in the fulfillment of our business plan, with which we continue to promote a fair and ecological energy transition in the Iberian Peninsula.”
