Siemens Gamesa has won a turbine contract from Capital Energy for a 50MW wind project in northern Spain.
The Buseco wind farm, in Asturias, is expected to be commissioned by mid-2022 and it marks the first turbine deal with Capital Energy.
Buseco will feature 10 SG 5.0-132 turbines and Siemens Gamesa will service the turbines for 20 years.
Siemens Gamesa, present in Asturias since 2000, has 60% of the installed wind turbine capacity in this region, equivalent to 360MW of installed capacity.
“The contract we are announcing today is especially important for us because it is the first we have signed with our new client, Capital Energy, which is undoubtedly one of the most active and promising players in the wind industry in Spain.
“I am convinced that we will reach many more agreements and that together we will contribute to the strong progress of renewable energy in Spain,” said Roberto Sabalza, Siemens Gamesa onshore CEO for southern Europe and Africa.
The 10 nacelles for the wind farm will be assembled at the Agreda (Soria) plant, the gearboxes will be produced at the factories in Asteasu (Guipuzcoa), Lerma (Burgos) and the city of Burgos, and the electrical components will be produced at the factories in Reinosa (Cantabria), San Fernando de Henares (Madrid) and Benisano (Valencia).
