Banks Renewables has cut four turbines from proposals for a new Scottish wind farm, the 36MW Mill Rig in South Lanarkshire.
Six 250-metre machines now under consideration rather than the earlier 10 at the wind farm located 6km east of Darvel in East Ayrshire and 12km south west of Strathaven.
Three virtual exhibitions for the wind farm will take place in December as the developer consults with the community ahead of a planning submission.
Banks Renewables community manager Robin Winstanley said: “We’re at the early stages of Mill Rig, but it’s a crucial time for us to establish positive working relationships with local people.
“We want Mill Rig to bring huge benefit to this area and also bring Scotland’s renewables ambitions closer to reality, by utilising the lowest cost green electricity available.”
Banks said the changes have been enabled by more efficient turbine technology.
Banks anticipates £10m of the construction costs will be invested into local businesses, directly supporting 330 jobs, and is committing to the industry standard £5,000 per MW in community benefit payments.
