Danish cable company NKT has signed a long-term service agreement covering the maintenance and repair of export and interconnector cables supplying power to Belgium, the UK and Germany.
Elia Asset, 50Hertz Transmissio and Nemo Link have each awarded NKT a five-year contract for service works on their offshore assets.
NKT said the scope of the deal covers inspection and maintenance of spare parts, vessel support for fault localisation, offshore cable handling, offshore cable jointing work and engineering.
The deal also includes a vessel mobilisation guarantee with NKT supplying suitable technicians and vessels to complete any work.
NKT will also handle all cable repair logistics for Nemo Link.
“As the world moves towards green energy, the uptime of power cable connections becomes increasingly important to ensure efficient usage of the renewable energy produces,” said NKT head of service and installation Axel Barnekow-Widmark.
“With these agreements, we are well prepared to support Elia, 50Hertz and Nemo Link with a fast response in the event of power cable damage.”
