German offshore wind association WAB has elected a new board and anchored green hydrogen into its statutes.
Jens Assheuer (pictured), managing director WindMW Service, becomes chair and Irina Lucke, managing director EWE OSS Offshore Service, deputy-chair – reversing previous roles at WAB.
Also on the board are Ocean Breeze’s Jean Huby, PNE chief executive Markus Lesser, TenneT’s Tim Meyerjurgens, GeFue’s Norbert Giese and FA Wind’s Antje Wagenknecht.
Deutsche Windguard’s Dennis Kruse and Deutsche Windtechnik Matthias Brandt were newly elected to the board.
WAB founding director Nils Schnorrenberger returns to the board after years.
Assheuer said: “We see a clear need for improvement before the end of the year, both with the energy transition amendment to the Renewable Energy Act and the amendment to the Wind Energy Offshore Act,.
“The upcoming adjustments will decide whether the value chain in Germany will be weakened and can limit the innovation potential of many domestic companies.”
WAB also called for green hydrogen to be made economically viable through regulation and should be reflected in the innovation tenders in the EEG.
