RWE Renewables has completed exploratory geophysical work for its 576MW Awel y Môr offshore wind farm off north Wales.
Geodata specialist Fugro has completed a four-month campaign of seabed surveys at the project to map the sea floor at the site.
The information gathered provides information on the characteristics of the seabed and bedrock in the array site and along potential export cable routes.
“This is a positive first step for the project,” said Awel y Môr project manager Tamsyn Rowe.
“We are still in the very early stages of developing the wind farm and the results from this study, which we are now receiving, will inform our Environmental Impact Assessment and final application,” she said.
Awel y Môr is an extension to RWE Renewables’ existing 578MW Gwynt y Môr development 13km off North Wales.
