Vestas has ended the third quarter with turbine orders totalling 415MW for wind projects in Russia, Chile and Denmark
The biggest contract award is a 252MW order for five wind energy projects in Russia from Wind Energy Development Fund (WEDF), a joint investment fund between Fortum and Rusnano.
The projects, in the Volgograd and Astrakhan region, will consist of V126-4.2MW wind turbines combined with 87 metre towers.
The order includes long-term service contracts.
Deliveries are expected to begin in the third of 2021 and commissioning start is planned for the fourth quarter of 2021.
The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines.
The projects make up the sixth order from Vestas’ framework agreement with Rusnano and Fortum, increasing its turbine share in Russia to over 1GW.
Vestas’ Chile order is for turbines for the 109MW Ckani wind project in the Antofagasta region placed by Mainstream Renewable Power.
The contract includes the supply and installation of 26 V150-4.2MW wind turbines, as well as a 20 year service agreement.
Ckani is expected to reach commercial operation in 2021.
Ckani, was awarded in a 2016 auction, takes the amount of Vestas turbines already installed or under construction in the country to over 1.5GW.
Vestas has also secured a 54MW turbine order for the GreenLab Skive wind project from Eurowind Energy.
The GreenLab project, located in Mid Jutland, is a sustainable energy park and research facility that generates renewable energy from multiple sources such as wind, solar and biogas.
Vestas will supply one V126-3.45MW turbine delivered in a 3.6MW power optimised mode and 12 V136-4.2MW turbines, combined with towers on different hub heights.
Deliveries and commissioning are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2022.
Vestas will also service the turbines for 20 years.
The GreenLab hybrid project will supply green power directly to a 12MW hydrogen/e-methanol production facility.
To date Vestas has installed more than 3.7GW of wind turbines in Denmark.
“We are proud to deliver our technology to a lighthouse project like GreenLab, which works to transform the way green energy is produced, converted, stored and put to use. GreenLab truly marks a significant step in making the energy transition come true”, said Vestas norther and central Europe president Nils de Baar.
Vestas said it is also supplying another project for Eurowind using its 4MW platform that includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines.
