Candela Renewables is to supply Google with 140MW of clean power from a solar plant in Texas under a new power purchase agreement.
The deal will bring new renewable energy to the ERCOT power grid and see Candela develop a new solar power project.
Candela said this will boost the local economy as a result of the investment and creation of new construction and permanent full-time jobs.
“Over our years working together, the team at Candela has pushed itself to not just develop renewable power and storage projects, but to create projects and find partners that move the entire industry forward in innovative ways that have an impact beyond an individual piece of infrastructure,” the company said.
Candela was founded by former First Solar executives and has assembled a portfolio of more than 3.6GW of utility-scale solar projects and 2.2GW of co-located energy storage.
