Saitec Offshore Technologies’ BlueSath floating offshore demonstration turbine has set sail for its final destination off the coast of Santander in Spain.
The one-sixth scale floater of a 10MW turbine features a 30kW Aelos unit with a 15-metre rotor and 17.45-metre hub height.
It will be deployed at Abra of Sardinero for 12 months after which it will be decommissioned.
The turbine features Swinging Around Twin Hull (Sath) technology that has been validated in several tank tests since 2014.
