Enel Green Power has grid connected an unnamed 51MW wind farm in the town of Motilla del Palancar in the Cuenca province of Spain.
The project features 17 3MW turbines and will produce 144 gigawatt-hours of electricity a year.
Enel Green Power is also providing other benefits to the local municipality.
This includes a 3.2kW photovoltaic donation – solar panels, inverter, batteries, protections and auxiliary components – replacement of 100 light points from public lighting to LED in some of the town’s streets, and providing efficient lighting of the football field, through installing LED projectors, in the field’s four floodlights.
The execution of these projects will entail significant cost savings on the municipality’s electricity bill by improving energy efficiency, Enel said.
Furthermore, the employment of local companies selected by the City Council has been prioritised.
Enel has also organised a 90-hour course on maintenance and operation of renewable energy plants in which 17 people have participated so far.
