Orsted has awarded Semco Maritime a one-year service contract to carry out preventative maintenance on the two offshore substations at the former’s 277MW Borkum Riffgrund 1 and 448MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 projects off Germany.
Semco Maritime said it will upgrade the helideck on the Borkum Riffgrund 1 platform and carry out work on both substations LV utilities as well as their fire, safety and structural systems.
The maintenance work will largely be carried out by teams working from Semco Maritime offices in Norddeich, Germany.
Semco Maritime wind service director Mads Iversholt said: “We look forward to working with Orsted and ensuring that the sustainable energy produced at sea is brought to shore as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
“At the same time, we are pleased to return to the two substations, which we know quite well from the construction of Borkum Riffgrund 1 and various installation, hook-up and commissioning activities at Borkum Riffgrund 2.”
