Siemens Gamesa has awarded Australian engineering company Worley a contract for turbine inspections and general maintenance at the 630MW London Array offshore wind farm in the Thames Estuary in England.
The work will be carried out by Worley’s Great Yarmouth-based team in the UK.
Worley said the award follows the acquisition of 3Sun in October 2019, which provided the former company with a “leading position in the high growth offshore wind energy services sector in the UK and Europe”.
Worley chief executive Chris Ashton said: “I’m delighted that we have been chosen by (Siemens Gamesa) to help deliver this strategically important project.
“This supports our ongoing commitment to the energy transition and continues our strategy of delivering enhanced operations and maintenance services to the global offshore wind market.”
London Array, which features 175 Siemens Gamesa 3.6MW turbines, is owned by RWE, Orsted, La Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec and Masdar.
It has been fully operational since 2013.
