TenneT has confirmed that a consortium of Engie Fabricom and Iemants has secured a turnkey deal to deliver the 700MW Hollandse Kust North offshore wind substation in the Dutch North Sea.
The Belgian companies have inked a contract to design, engineer, fabricate, transport and install the platform, said the transmission system operator.
The HKN substation is due for commissioning in 2023 and will deliver power from the offshore wind zone of the same name.
A tender for the latter closed at the end of April with a winning developer due to be selected during the summer.
The contract also includes options to provide substations for the Hollandse Kust West Alpha and Beta zones, added TenneT.
Wind farms of 700MW apiece in these areas are due online in 2024 and 2025, respectively, according to the TSO.
