Fred Olsen Windcarrier jack-up Blue Tern has installed the last of 32 turbines at the 200MW Trianel Windpark Borkum 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The project, also known as Borkum West 2.2, features Senvion 6.2M152 hardware on monopile foundations.
Windcarrier said installation of the final turbine had been completed on 17 May, with the “last big components were installed Saturday and final bolt and nut on Sunday early morning”.
The company added that Global Wind Service supported the work with technicians, quality assurance and site management for the installation and mechanical completion of the 32 machines.
Borkum West 2.2 is located 45km off the northern coast of Borkum Island.
Companies involved in the project are EWE (37.5%), a joint venture of the power utility of the city of Zurich (24.51%) and Trianel and 17 municipal utilities from Germany (37.99%).
Windcarrier secured a deal in February to complete turbine installation at the project.
It was tasked with installing the final 11 Senvion machines, which had been delayed by bad weather and the insolvency of the German turbine manufacturer.
