UK power system administrator Elexon has identified the root cause of a cyber attack that hit its IT systems on Thursday.
The company, which delivers balancing and settlement services for the grid, did not give further details but said power supplies were unaffected by the incident.

“We have identified the root cause of a cyber attack and are working to resolve the issue,” said the company.
System operator National Grid ESO said it is also investigating any potential impact on its own IT networks.
“Electricity supply is not affected. We have robust cybersecurity measures across our IT and operational infrastructure to protect against cyber threats.”
