EDPR has restarted onshore work for its 950MW Moray East offshore wind farm after updated COVID-19 guidance from the Scottish government.
The developer, which had halted building a new underground cable and substation in Aberdeenshire on 27 March, said a “limited” level of activity commenced earlier this week.
A “full assessment” of activities at the site have also been undertaken with principle contractor Siemens to ensure the project complies with new health and safety guidance.
“Work will only go ahead where the guidance can be achieved, and several changes have been made to our sites to ensure the safety of the workforce and the public,” the developer said in a statement.
“Protecting our employees and contractors is paramount and we will continue to review the situation daily.”
EDPR, which is building the wind farm in partnership with several other investors including Engie, said Moray East is a critical piece of energy infrastructure.
“It has become clear that Coronavirus is not temporary and we are now adjusting to a new way of working to ensure this critical infrastructure is ready to support the recovery,” it added.
