Innogy has partnered with the Asia Cement Corporation to develop the up to 448MW Chu Feng project off Taiwan.
Innogy said the two companies have agreed to form a strategic partnership to realise the project, which is located off the country’s northwest coast near Hsinchu City.
The developer said that the Taiwan Strait project will be located at a “wind-rich” site and said Chu Feng was “a perfect strategic fit” for its growth ambitions in Asia.
“The Chu Feng project will enable us to enter this growing market with a strong local partner at our side, whose local expertise complements our global experience and technical know-how,” Innogy’s senior vice president for renewables Sven Utermöhlen said.
“[The Asia Cement Corporation] shares our ambition to drive the growth of offshore wind in Taiwan.”
Innogy has been active in Taiwan since 2018 when it opened an office in the country’s capital city of Taipei.
“We are pleased that Innogy, with their extensive offshore wind experience, are on board with us in the development of the Chu Feng offshore wind project,” added Henry Wu, chief executive of the project’s preparatory office.
