Vertical axis floating wind turbine developer SeaTwirl has joined forces with Crest Consultants to identify areas suitable for offshore wind power in Brazil.
The Swedish duo also aim to develop concept products with Brazilian partners based on SeaTwirl’s technology and Crest’s engineering experience and contacts in Brazil.
Ultimately, they plan to find commercial projects on which to collaborate.
The first stage will see a feasibility study carried out, which will be partly financed with a Skr 50,000 (€4500) grant from Offshore Vast.
Sweden and Brazil have for many years had a strategic cooperation agreement to stimulate partnerships in innovation and development between the countries, SeaTwirl said.
SeaTwirl interim chief executive Peter Schou said: “Brazil is an exciting market with very good conditions for offshore wind power, as there are both a lot of coast and a large offshore industry.”
