The 2MW Floatgen floating wind pilot recorded its best month to date in terms of production, in February.
According to Ideol, last month Floatgen achieved a capacity factor of 66.3% and produced 923.2 megawatt hours of clean electricity. Time availability stood at 95.7%.
The latest data demonstrates the “commercial readiness” of the Floatgen technology even in “severe environments”, said Ideol.
The pilot, situated off of France’s Atlantic coast, uses Ideol’s patented floating foundation.
According to data gathered on Floatgen’s performance, the second half of 2019 saw the floating wind turbine more than double power production, compared with the first half of the year.
During 2019, in total the turbine generated 6 gigawatt hours, with an average time availability of 94.6%.
