French oil company Total is among the bidders looking to take a stake in SSE Renewables’ 1075MW Seagreen offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland, according to media reports.
A Bloomberg story cited “people familiar with the matter” as the source of the information.
SSE is looking to sell a 50% stake in the project, which has a Contracts for Difference for 454MW of capacity.
The developer opened the divestment process earlier this year and plans to reach financial close in the coming months.
SSE confirmed that plans are in place to progress with an equity stake sell-down in the project, but would not comment further.
Total said it does not comment on market rumours.
MHI Vestas has been lined up to supply and service up to 114 turbines for Seagreen.
Nexans is the preferred contractor to design, supply and install the project’s export cables.
Petrofac is preferred supplier for the onshore and offshore substations for the wind farm.
The port of Montrose on the east coast of Scotland has been chosen by SSE as the site of the project’s operations and maintenance base.
Seagreen is expected online in 2022.
Total plans to be operating 7GW of renewable energy generation by 2022 and 25GW by 2025.
