Vestas has secured a 39MW order for its new turbine EnVentus from Stena Renewables for the Riskebo wind project in Sweden.
Riskebo, located in the Hedemora municipality, will be the first wind farm in the country to use the EnVentus V162-5.6MW.
Turbine delivery is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2021, while commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of next year.
As well as supplying, installing and commissioning the turbines, Vestas will service the machines under a 30-year service contract.
Stena Renewables chief executive Peter Zachrisson said: “We are building this project in collaboration with a strong regional developer and wind turbine owner, Dala Vind.
“The new Vestas EnVentus platform helps us utilise the projects total potential with a high yearly production and long turbine lifetime, providing society with a tremendous amount of sustainable electricity over the coming years.”
Vestas sales director for northern and central Europe Juan Furones said: “With this order we continue to build on our valued collaboration with Stena Renewables, with whom we have a strong partnership in the Nordics.
“Together, we have developed the most suitable and versatile solution for the Riskebo wind power plant, leveraging the large operational envelope and exceptional energy capture of the V162-5.6MW turbine variant from our EnVentus platform.”
The company received its first order for the V162-5.6MW machine in June 2019 for a 151MW wind farm being developed by TuuliWatti in Finland.
Since launching the EnVentus turbine in 2019 the company has contracted over 600MW for the platform in Finland.
