EDF Renewables earnings jumped over 33% last year to €1193m from €856m, boosted by the sale of a 50% stake in the Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm off Scotland to ESB.
Capital gains in the company’s development and sale of structured assets operations were €560m in 2019, up from €192m in the previous 12 months.
Sales of €1565m last year were on a par with the €1505m posted in 2018.
EBITDA from generation was negatively impacted by disposals that took place in late 2018 and early 2019 falling almost 1% to €917m, the company said.
At the end of 2019, EDF Renewables has 8.1GW of installed capacity compared with 8.3GW at the end of the previous year.
EDF Renewables output last year was 14.7 terrawatt-hours, down by 0.3TWh on the previous year, which the company said was expected given the disposals mentioned above.
Wind generation was up in both Belgium and Italy, with capacity up 18% to 519MW in the former country, the company said.
EDF said it had doubled construction by the end of last year to 5GW, of which 3.4GW was wind power and 1.5GW solar.
The company has over 2GW of offshore wind in development or under construction in the UK and France, it said.
