Siemens Gamesa is to supply turbines totalling 205MW to Suncor for the Forty Mile wind farm in the Canadian province of Alberta.
The order is for 45 of the manufacturer’s 4.5-145 machines and includes a maintenance agreement for 20 years. It is the company’s third deal with Suncor.
The turbine’s 71-metre blade integrates aerodynamics and noise reduction features including DinoTails next generation technology, Siemens Gamesa said.
Forty Mile is scheduled to come online in 2021, it added.
Siemens Gamesa Canada business head David Hickey said: “We are happy to strengthen our relationship with Suncor.
“The 4.5-145 turbines provide extremely cost competitive and clean energy, bringing economic benefits to the local communities in Alberta.”
The agreement takes the total suite of projects for the 4.5-145 model in Canada to 574MW.
