Wind farm operator Windkraft Simonsfeld has installed a fos4X ice detection system on its fleet of Senvion turbines in Austria.
A separate retroX system was installed on four the 35 of the units that have “performance anomalies”, said Windkraft Simonsfeld.
RetroX consists of a “sensor platform and intelligent software offering extended functionality while the “the system enables the identificiation of yaw and pitch angle misalignments and the logging of loads experienced during turbine operation.” Said the company.
The company already deployed the fos4X rotor ice control set-up in 2018.
“The reliability and performance of the fos4X ice detection system are outstanding in our wind farms. The systems will already have amortized in our wind farm Kreuzstetten in the 2nd winter,” said Dieter Schreiber Windkraft Simonsfeld head of monitoring and innovation.
