Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult has appointed Alex Smith, Forth Ports group financial controller and the company’s risk and insurance manager, to its board.
Commenting on the appointment, chairman Colin Hood said: “Alex brings extensive financial experience having worked in a variety of roles within PricewaterhouseCoopers, including external audit and transaction services across a wide variety of industry sectors.”
Prior to joining Forth Ports, Smith was seconded to the Scottish Government’s Energy Directorate to help establish the Renewable Energy Investment Fund.
“She will combine her financial and renewable energy experience to further strengthen the Catapult’s finance, risk management and governance practices,” Hood added.
Smith said: “I’m very much looking forward to working with the Catapult team to grow and strengthen the organisation at this critical time in the development of the UK’s offshore renewable energy sector.
“The sector is on course to be a vital part of the future global energy mix and organisations such as ORE Catapult are essential in making offshore renewable energy a UK and global success story.”
