GE Renewable Energy’s Grid Solutions business has confirmed the selection of HSM Offshore to deliver two offshore platforms for the 450MW Neart na Gaoithe wind farm off Scotland.
The Dutch yard will start work on the substations in 2021, it is understood.
The tie-up between GE and HSM on the EDF Renewables’ project was first reported exclusively in subscriber-only reNEWS in October 2019.
GE is also working with IV-One, which will design the topsides, which will feature the US manufacturer’s in-house equipment.
“GE’s Grid Solutions business is very proud to work with our consortium collaborators to support both shareholders in their growing portfolios of onshore and offshore wind farms as well as to help deliver low carbon electricity generation in the UK,” said Gerhard Seyrling, the division’s president.
The company was selected by EDF to supply both offshore platforms and an onshore substation in what GE has described as a “multi-million dollar” deal.
Neart, co-owned by Irish utility ESB, is expected online in 2023 featuring Siemens Gamesa turbines.
