US outfit Broadwind Energy has secured its first significant order for the solar power market, marking its entry into the sector.
The company gave no further details about the order, other than to say production would be carried out at its Red Wolf facility in Sanford, North Carolina.
Broadwind president and chief executive Stephanie Kushner said: “We are pleased to announce a strategic milestone in our entry into the solar market.
“We are leveraging our supply chain expertise and service oriented core competencies to reduce our customers’ project installation costs.
“We are excited to see growth in this important market as we continue to diversify and expand our industrial solutions offerings from Red Wolf.
“In addition to this solar order, we have also expanded our customer base in the natural gas turbine market, which further supports our original investment thesis.”
Broadwind Energy has previously been active in renewables in the wind power market, manufacturing towers and gears.
