Total Quadran, oil giant Total’s renewables subsidiary in France, has five solar projects totalling 63MW due online in the next two years on former industrial sites in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of the country.
Once commissioned, the plants will produce approximately 90 gigawatt-hours of electricity a year, the company said.
The projects include the 34MW Nogueres-Pardies being built on the site of a former aluminium plant.
The first phase is expected online in the first half of 2020.
Construction of the 15MW Besingrand plant will start next year for commissioning in the first half of 2021.
The 5MW Carresse-Cassaber is under construction with commissioning planned in the first half of 2020, while the 5MW Monein should be commissioned by the end of this year.
The 4MW Besingrand-Pardies is slated to start operations by the end of 2020, the company added.
Total Quadran managing director Thierry Muller said the company has over 500MW of projects in development split between solar and wind, and wants to expand further.
