Germany has awarded only 204MW of new onshore wind capacity to 25 projects in the country’s latest auction out of 675MW that had been made available.
Bid prices ranged from €61.9 a megawatt-hour to €62.0/MWh, with the average at €62.0/MWh as in the last two onshore auctions, the German grid operator BNetz said.
VDMA Power Systems managing director Matthias Zelinger described the auction results as “frightening” and said the current onshore market environment is endangering Germany’s climate goals as well as jobs.
Nine projects totalling 74MW are located in Brandenburg, six with a combined capacity of 51MW in North Rhine-Westphalia and six also in Schleswig-Holstein totalling 29MW.
However, an auction for 150MW of solar capacity attracted 153 bids totalling 648MW, BNetz said.
Twenty-seven bids were successful sharing 153MW of capacity, it said.
Most of the projects, 19, are in Bavaria with a combined capacity of 130MW, BNetz added.
Prices ranged from €45.9/MWh to €52.0/MWh, with an average price og €49/MWh.
Eleven bids were excluded due to form errors or late access, BNetz said.
