France has awarded 576MW of onshore wind and almost 130MW of solar capacity in the country’s latest renewables auctions.
In the country’s fourth onshore wind sale, 20 projects were successful at an average price of €66.5 a megawatt-hour and will receive support for 20 years.
The wind farms range in size from 3.6MW to 111MW.
Canadian company Boralex said it secured two wind projects in the auction totalling 32.6MW.
They are the 19.8MW Seuil de Cambresis second phase and the 12.8MW extension to the Plaine d’Escrebieux.
France’s eighth solar auction awarded 129.4MW to 268 projects at an average price of €97.48/MWh for facilities between 100kW and 500kW and €86.54/MWh for those plants with power of 500kW to 8MW.
The winning projects will increase the current installed capacity of wind power and solar photovoltaic by 3%, the government said.
French environment minister Elisabeth Borne said the results “confirm the good momentum of the development of renewable energies in our territories”.
She added: “The government is committed to complementing several renewable energy sectors in order to provide a diversified and robust electricity mix to achieve our power generation goals.”
