Technology giant Apple has invested in three Chinese wind farms with a combined capacity of 134MW through its China Clean Energy Fund.
The projects are the 48MW each Jing Tang and Shen Zhang Tang in Hunan province, developed by Concord New Energy Group, and an unnamed 38MW facility developed by Fenghua Energy Investment Group in Hubei province.
Apple vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives Lisa Jackson said: “To see these projects completed and already supplying clean energy to the grid is really exciting.
“We are proud that suppliers participating in the fund share our commitment to supporting innovative energy solutions, cutting emissions and fighting climate change.”
Apple launched the $300m fund, which is managed by DWS Group, last year looking to invest in up to 1GW of renewable energy projects by 2022.
DWS Group director Yuyu Peng said: “We’re excited to support developers like Concord and Fenghua.
“The projects in Hunan and Hubei provide so many positive results. They not only support China’s renewable energy goals, but also introduce our fund partners to diverse clean energy projects.”
