French developer Neoen has signed a power purchase agreement with internet giant Google for 130MW of electricity from the 250MW Mutkalampi wind farm in Finland.
The off-take deal will kick in once the project, located in Central and Northern Ostrobothnia, begins operations in 2022.
Construction of the wind farm is expected to start in 2021. Neoen owns 80% and Prokon Finland 20%.
The PPA is the second struck between the developers and Google. The latter will also take all 81MW from the Hedet wind farm, which is due to enter service early next year.
Neoen chief executive Xavier Barbaro said: “We would like to thank Google for once again putting its trust in us. The signing of this second power purchase agreement in Finland fully illustrates our ability to achieve rapid growth in Europe by capitalising on our experience.”
He added: “Our energy is attractive to an increasingly large number and wide range of buyers, in particular large businesses belonging to the RE100 such as Google. We are planning to step up our development in Finland and play a very active role in achieving its target of being carbon neutral in 2035.”
