Developers of the up-to 850MW Moray West wind farm off Scotland will continue to refine their plans for the project with a view to bidding it into future CfD auction rounds.
The project, which is developed by a consortium of EDPR and Engie, failed to secure supports at the Government’s latest auction.
Project director Dan Finch hailed the efforts of the development team in getting the project auction ready to bid after it securing planning permission in June this year.
“Moray West will continue to develop the project in anticipation of the next auction round and thank our suppliers for helping us deliver a highly competitive bid, and with whom we will continue to work to drive the cost reduction agenda,” he said.
Finch said he is confident the project has an important role to play in the UK’s future energy plans, adding that it will bring economic development to Scotland when built.
“We continue to look forward to taking Moray West into its construction phase and delivering significant economic opportunities for Scotland and the UK,” he said.
“There is an opportunity for Scotland’s energy targets to be met in future by Scottish offshore wind farms and for Moray West to be a key step on that journey.
The project will feature up to 85 turbines and is located 22km off the Scottish coast.
