Green Cat is working as client’s engineer on the 46MW Crossdykes wind farm in south-west Scotland.
The subsidy-free wind farm located in Dumfries and Galloway, which is being developed by Muirhall Energy with WWS Renewables, recently commenced construction.
Green Cat’s role has included providing support in procuring the balance of plant contracts, turbine supply contract, and grid connection to the transmission network.
Managing grid code compliance, contract and construction supervision are part of Green Cat’s scope for the construction phase.
Green Cat director Gavin Catto said: “We are very happy to be working once again with Muirhall Energy and WWS Renewables, this time to deliver one of the UK’s first zero-subsidy wind projects.
“Green Cat is proud to continue offering Engineering and Project Management services in this new phase of the UK’s energy market.”
The wind farm will start generating electricity in September 2020.
Crossdykes reached financial close in August, with Close Brothers Leasing funding the scheme and turbines supplied by German manufacturer Nordex.
Scottish Government Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands Paul Wheelhouse said: “This is a landmark moment for onshore wind in Scotland, in fulfilling a key policy objective we set within Scotland’s Energy Strategy, and I very much hope this will be followed by many more similar developments as we seek to address the climate emergency.”
