Statkraft has installed the final turbine at its 288MW Storheia wind farm in Norway, part of the six-project Fosen Vind complex.
Storheia, located in the municipalities of Åfjord and Bjugn in Sor-Trondelag county, consists of 80 Vestas V117 machines each rated at 3.6MW.
Testing of the turbines will continue throughout the late summer and autumn. The wind farm will be Norway’s largest once completed this autumn.
Work on the Storheia wind farm (pictured) has been ongoing since August 2016, when construction of access roads to the wind farm started.
Since 1 April this year, 640 component deliveries have been carried out on the 15-kilometre stretch from Monstad quay to Storheia.
“In just three months, we have assembled all the 80 turbines thanks to persistent efforts from our skilled team,” said Statkraft project director Jan Petter Birkeland.
Storheia will be the second project of the 1057MW Fosen Vind complex to be completed after Roan’s wind farm opened in May.
Storheia also represents the single largest project in the Fosen scheme, Europe’s largest land-based wind power development.
