Enel Green Power North America has started construction of two wind farms in the US with a combined capacity over 302MW.
The 236.5MW White Cloud project is located in Nodaway County, Missouri, and is expected to be operational by the second half of 2020.
It will generate about 950 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity a year.
The 66MW Whitney Hill facility is located in Logan County, Illinois, adjacent to the company’s existing 185MW HillTopper wind farm that began commercial operation in December 2018.
Whitney Hill is expected to begin operations by the end of 2019, generating around 246GWh a year.
Enel currently has about 1.25GW of wind farms under construction in the US.
Enel Green Power North America head Georgios Papadimitriou said: “Today’s announcement reinforces our commitment to continued growth throughout the country.
“These projects will enable us to further capitalise on the abundant wind resource in the central US as we continue to expand our footprint in this region and increase the geographical diversification of our portfolio.”
