The Maryland Energy Administration has launched two funding initiatives to support offshore wind in the US state totalling almost $3m in 2020.
Some $1.6m will go the Maryland Offshore Wind Capex Program and $1.2m to the Maryland Offshore Wind Workforce Training Program.
The Maryland Offshore Wind Capex Program provides grant funding to help defray capital expenditure investments for Maryland’s emerging businesses entering the offshore wind industry.
Both new or existing Maryland businesses engaged in the offshore wind industry may apply, while companies willing to relocate or expand into the state after receiving a grant award may also be eligible.
The Maryland Offshore Wind Workforce Training program provides grant funding to support Maryland’s workforce entering the offshore wind industry.
Both new and existing workforce development training centres focused on offshore wind industry can apply.
The centres must provide education on technical trade skills and safety standards, as well as well as an outreach plan to prospective students from historically under-served communities.
The application deadline for both initiatives is 1 October.
