A wind farm support vessel crewman has been hospitalised after suffering a serious hand injury aboard the vessel near the West of Duddon Sands project (pictured) in the Irish Sea.
The Barrow Lifeboat was launched on Tuesday after the Coastguard received a request for assistance from guard vessel Fairline Surveyor, which was south of the wind farm.
The vessel’s master reported that one of the crew had sustained a “serious hand injury that required urgent treatment”, according to the RNLI.
All-weather lifeboat Grace Dixon was launched a 17.05 and met the vessel 10km south of Walney Island where the man was assessed.
The injured crew man was brought back to Barrow where he was transported by Furness Coastguard to Furness General Hospital for treatment.
