WestWind has started the grid connection application process for the 800MW Golden Plains wind farm in the Australian state of Victoria.
The developer recently received planning permit approval for the project and is now working on the detailed project design, which includes commencing the grid connection application process.
WestWind said securing a connection for a wind farm can typically take 12-18 months.
The developer is also in the final stages of choosing a preferred turbine supplier for Golden Plains, which will comprise of up to 228 3MW to 5MW turbines.
Golden Plains is located in the Golden Plains shire to the south, southeast and northwest of the small township of Rokewood.
In 2017 WestWind submitted a planning application to the state government of Victoria for the project.
Once operational, a community fund will be established to provide annual financial support of up to A$228,000 a year.
