Innogy has launched a new turbine technician apprenticeship scheme for the 353MW Galloper offshore wind farm located off the east coast of England.
The aim is to give young people in the East Anglia region the chance to start a career in the offshore wind sector.
Three candidates will be chosen to join the four-year scheme that will include both practical experience and classroom-based learning.
Venues for the apprenticeships will be Galloper’s operations and maintenance base in Harwich, the offshore wind farm site and East Coast College in Lowestoft.
Graduates of the scheme will receive a level three diploma in engineering.
Applicants need to have five GCSEs at grade C or above, ideally including science and maths, and be able to work at heights, at sea and shifts.
Galloper operations and maintenance manager Sean Chenery said: “The apprentices will learn all the technical; health and safety, and fault-finding skills to keep our turbines running safely and efficiently.
“This is a hugely exciting and unique opportunity for motivated young people with a passion for engineering to join our skilled team and evolve into fully fledged offshore wind turbine technicians.”
